Here's a comment I've made before with some information, some of which may be helpful. I wash rocks with hydrogen peroxide then rinse well. I boil, leaves, wood, bark etc, for about an hour then bake dry. You can get things like bark, wood, and rocks from outside to make hides. The friend who gave me the gecko really didn’t have a good set up for him so I didn’t get anything from him other than the gecko and the dubia roaches he still had :/ I def have enough money to go out and get a hide but I’m really looking to save money in case there are any unexpected gecko expenses down the line bc I wanna do the best I can for this little dude. I mainly need to get some hides ASAP and I have a pretty nice hide I was able to buy for the warm side of the tank that he’s been loving and I know I can make a moist hide out of a Tupperware container because that’s what I did last time but I’m at a loss for what to do for a cold side hide. I still had most of the essentials (overhead heat source, food/water dishes, the 20 gallon tank, very few fake plants) because I had a gecko years back that sadly passed after I left for college and held on to some of the supplies since I did want to get another little dude once I had the opportunity. Hey guys, just had a new gecko basically fall into my lap yesterday because a friend was moving, and I love him so much but I’m also on a very tight budget at the moment so I was wondering if you guys had any tips for possibly making hides/tank decor out of things I might already have.
